About DreamPrompter

Things worth asking.

Most people have a remarkable tool open in a browser tab and use it to ask forgettable questions. Fix this email. Suggest a recipe for chicken. Summarize this article. Nothing is wrong with those. They are a small part of what an assistant can do, and most people sense it. They suspect they are only scratching the surface and do not know what else to ask.

DreamPrompter is a free library of things worth asking. Each prompt is a question about your own life, work or mind. Copy it, fill in your details, run it in whichever assistant you use, and read the short note on why it works.

The name

In a theater, the prompter sits out of sight and feeds actors the line they lost. The actor still gives the performance. We do that job for the blank chat box. We give you the line. What you make of the answer is yours.

What we believe

Think better, not less. An assistant can do your thinking for you, and that is the risk. Our prompts push the other way. They have the assistant question you, show its evidence and argue the other side, so you finish with a sharper view of your own.

Questions outlast models. Assistants change every few months, and wording tuned for one model often does not carry to the next. A good question about your work, your money or your habits is still a good question next year. So we teach what to ask, in plain language that works in any assistant.

A prompt should teach you something. Every prompt comes with one line on why it works. The point is that the habit transfers, and that over time you need us less.

Honesty over hype. No prompt will change your life in one paste. Assistants get things wrong, sound sure when they do, and agree with people too easily. We say so, and we write the prompts to account for it.

How prompts are chosen

Every house prompt is written fresh for this library and has to pass five checks before it is published. From your side of the screen, they mean this:

The editor’s test5 questions/all 5 must pass

Would I send this question to a friend, with no explanation?

It is a question you would send to a friend with no explanation.

Does the answer depend on the reader, so two people get two different answers?

The answer depends on you. Two people who run it get two different answers.

If the assistant could simply agree, is there a line that stops it?

Where the assistant could simply agree with you, the prompt has a line that stops it. A prompt for a bedtime story or a car game has nothing to agree with and needs no such line.

Can I say in one sentence what habit it teaches?

It teaches one habit of asking that fits in a single sentence.

Would a sample of the answer make someone want to run it?

Its sample answer makes you want to run it.

A prompt that fails any one of these is rewritten or cut. Prompts about health, money and legal questions meet a stricter standard. They help you prepare for a doctor, lawyer or licensed adviser. They never stand in for one.

What we do not do

  • No fake numbers. Vote counts start at zero and are never seeded. Until someone votes, the page shows no count at all.
  • No “tested on” claims we have not earned. We do not say a prompt was tested on an assistant unless we ran it there ourselves.
  • No invented praise. There are no made-up testimonials, and sample answers are labeled as illustrations.
  • No selling single prompts. The library is free, and you need no account to browse, copy or vote.
  • No ads.

We also keep a page on when not to use AI, because sometimes the better question is whether to ask at all.
