Brand guide/Version 1

How it looks and sounds.

One idea, one mark, one action color, three typefaces and a short list of rules. If you are making something that carries the DreamPrompter name, start here.

01 / The idea

Blur is the dream. Sharpness is the prompt.

Ambient things are slow, soft and glowing. Whatever you point at snaps sharp, bright and fast. In a theater, the prompter sits out of sight and feeds actors the line they lost. DreamPrompter does that for the blank chat box.

What’s the strongest argument against what I’m about to do?

  1. FarLight with no words in it. Decoration, hidden from screen readers.
  2. MidA question surfacing, soft, in the color of its scene.
  3. HeldThe one you point at. Sharp, brighter than the rest, and pressable.

03 / Color

Dark, paper and one amber.

Most of the screen is near black and warm white. Color is saved for two jobs: amber for what you can press, and six lights for the scenes.

Eigengrau

The dark you see with your eyes closed. Five steps, from the deepest to the nearest.

04 / Type

Three voices.

A serif for what people ask. A sans for the interface. A bitmap mono for what the machine knows.

Newsreader

What would you ask if you knew how?

Ask better questions.

Display in roman, and italic for every question. Weight 400. Never set below 19 pixels.

Interface and body. Weights 400, 500 and 600. Body is 17 pixels on a line height of 1.5. It has no italic: emphasis borrows the serif.

  10. 11 Know yourself / 10 min / D R E A M

05 / The glow rule

Only questions glow.

If it glows, it is a question you could ask. Headlines, body text, buttons and statements never glow. Amber is only for things you can press. Break either rule and the page stops meaning anything.

What’s the biggest thing I’m missing out on?

DoLight a question, in the color of its scene.
Do notLight a statement. This headline glows, so it claims to be something you could ask.
DoAmber on the thing you press, with dark text. 11.9:1 contrast.
Do notAmber as decoration, or white text on amber. White on amber is 1.7:1, too low to read.
Know yourself Money Work
DoPut a scene’s light beside its name. Color is never the only signal.
Do notGradient text, sparkles, orbs or glass cards. They are what every other AI product looks like.

06 / Voice

Plain, calm, honest.

American English, written the way you would talk to a friend who is good at their job.

Do notBoom, copied. You are crushing it

  4. Short headings.

About four words, ending in a full stop. A subhead inside a long read, or the name of a thing, is a plain label with no stop.

    DoStart with these.

  5. Honest about AI.

Assistants get things wrong and sound sure when they do. Say so.

DoA better answer, not a guaranteed one.

07 / Names

Plain label first.

Navigation uses the plain word, so nobody has to learn our vocabulary to find their way. The brand name lives one layer down, where it can charm instead of confuse.
