The prompt

I owe an apology for . Ask me up to four questions, one at a time, about what happened, how it affected them, and what I’m willing to do differently. Then write an apology under 120 words, in words I’d say out loud, that names what I did, says what it probably cost them, and makes one commitment I can keep. No ‘but’, no explaining my intentions, no asking to be forgiven. Afterward, point to any place in my answers where I was defending myself, say which part of their experience you’re only guessing at, and tell me what an apology can’t fix on its own.
