The prompt

I’m giving a toast for at . Don’t write anything yet. Ask me up to six questions, one at a time, to find the stories: a moment that shows who they are, something only I would know, and what I’d want them to hear me say in front of everyone. Then write a toast of about 250 words that I can deliver in two minutes. Build it around one story, not a list of qualities. Not like this: ‘The kindest, most loyal person I know.’ Use my own words where you can. Leave out inside jokes the room won’t get and anything that would embarrass them. End on a line I can raise a glass to. Then tell me which sentence still sounds like a greeting card.
