An explanation of the words, not of your health. Your doctor has the full picture. For anything urgent, call your local emergency number.

The prompt

This came from my doctor’s office and I can’t follow all of it. I’ve taken out my name and ID numbers. Don’t tell me what it means for my health, and don’t guess at a diagnosis or an outlook. Restate it in plain language, paragraph by paragraph, and explain each medical term or abbreviation in one line. Point out anything ambiguous, and anything whose meaning depends on information you don’t have. Then list what it asks me to do, with any dates, and write five questions to ask my doctor, most important first. If the letter itself says something is urgent, put that at the top. If you aren’t sure how to read something, say so. Here it is:

1 blank / 0 filled

Write on any underline. A blank you leave empty stays in [brackets] when you copy. What you type is kept on this device and nowhere else.

Tell us it worked.

Ran it and got something you could use? One tap, no account. It is how the next reader knows what to try.

Pass it on.

Send the question, not your answer. Whoever opens it gets the prompt and makes it their own.

Make a result card.

Got an answer worth keeping? Paste a line or two and it becomes an image you can post.
