I suspect there’s a decision I keep not making. Don’t answer yet. Ask me up to six questions, one at a time, about what I keep researching without acting on, what I complain about most, what I’ve been meaning to deal with for more than three months, and where I change the subject. Then name the one decision you think I’m avoiding. Show the evidence from my answers, say what the delay is costing me, and offer a smaller version of the decision that I could make this week. Don’t flatter me. If my answers don’t point anywhere clear, say so instead of forcing a guess. Be direct. No padding and no reassurance I did not ask for.
