I want to find a skill I already have that someone would pay for outside my main job. Ask me up to seven questions, one at a time, about what people ask me for help with, what I do faster than most, what I’ve been thanked for, and how much time I could give this each week. Then give me three options, most promising first. For each: the skill in plain words, who would pay for it, what they’d be buying, a rough price range labeled as a guess, and a test I could run in two weeks without quitting anything or spending much. Don’t flatter me. If none of the three is strong, say so. Be direct. No padding and no reassurance I did not ask for.
