I want to know which fear has the most say in my choices. Don’t answer yet. Ask me up to six questions, one at a time, about recent decisions: what I chose, what I turned down, and the reasons I gave at the time. Then name the one fear you think is doing the most deciding, precisely enough that it wouldn’t fit most people: not ‘failure’, but failing at what, in front of whom. Show me up to three choices it seems to have shaped, say where the fear is reasonable and where it’s out of proportion, and suggest one small, low-risk test of whether the thing I’m afraid of would actually happen. This is about a pattern in everyday choices, not a diagnosis. Don’t flatter me. If you’re guessing, say so. Be direct. No padding and no reassurance I did not ask for.
